Our Story

story-line

To help you explore Ibiza and share his love for the White island Charlie Hill, Co-Founder of Charles Marlow shares how he would spend three blissful dream days in his own bespoke luxury holiday experience in Ibiza.

For me, Ibiza quality of life is all about spending time with my partner and our daughter Nova, nurturing my body and spirit, being in the great outdoors, eating well and being with friends.

Day one – Eco countryside living

On the first day of my bespoke luxury holiday experience in Ibiza, my family and I would get up nice and early and head for Casa Gasi, the Ibizan finca transformed into a luxurious but low-key, ecologically-sound boutique hotel high on a hillside in tranquil Santa Gertrudis.

Here I would prepare for my three-day dream Ibiza adventure with a yoga practice followed by a sauna in the wonderful wellness centre while my daughter played in the pool and my partner soaked up the glorious early morning Ibiza summer vibes.

After a light, organic breakfast created with produce grown at Casa Gasi and locally, we would hop on our bicycles and ride through the forest to the charming town of Santa Gertrudis, the perfect place to experience Ibiza in microcosm. We would have a light lunch at Olivia’s Ibiza Kitchen, also a showroom for local arts and crafts, where everything is made with love.

Santa Getrudis has a particularly bohemian atmosphere and we love strolling through the town. As it would probably be a warm day, we would take a refreshing juice outside Bar Costa where the walls are lined with art made by hippy artists back in the day in exchange for being fed.

Later in the afternoon, when it’s a little cooler, we would make our way to Cala Comte. I would climb the rocks and wake myself up by leaping into the inviting and magically empty, turquoise sea where my family would be waiting on a boat ready to cruise the short distance to mystical Formentera.

This is Ibiza’s sister island and I have promised myself that I will get to know it better this year.

Halfway to Formentera, I would hop onto a wakeboard and, as the sun sets, ride onto the beach where sits the recently opened, mould-breaking Casa Pacha hotel created by our friends Moredesign. My sunkissed daughter and partner would be waiting with friends and we would dine long into the night in the hotel’s chiringuito restaurant.

Day two – Enjoying the south coast of Ibiza

Day two of my bespoke luxury holiday experience in Ibiza, I would wake with the sunrise, leave my family slumbering, resist the temptation to swim in the sea just outside our window and explore Formentera by scooter until I found the perfect white sand beach. After meditating to connect with my gratitude for being able to live this three-day dream as well as to have an inner adventure, I would swim in the soft Mediterranean sea to awaken my senses before joining my family for breakfast.

We would take our time leaving Casa Pasha paradise in time for a late lunch at Casa Jondal, the superb newish restaurant on Ibiza’s glorious south coast.  Here, we would linger over the indulgently organic creations of chef Rafael Zafra and I would dream of being a food writer.

As the afternoon shadows grew longer, we would jump into our funky yellow Mini Moke and head to Ibiza Old Town for ice cream at Vivi’s Creamery, run by Formula1 driver Nico Rosenberg and his wife Vivi. Best ice-cream on Ibiza, guaranteed.

Careful not to ruin our appetites – of course – we would wander the atmospheric streets of the Old Town, something I never tire of doing. With the sun going down and the town waking up, we would drive to Es Figueral beach and the surprisingly lovely family-run vegan restaurant by the same name for homemade ravioli with sage butter and pumpkin.

Our last stop would be Cala Xarraca where we would check into the truly dreamlike Six Senses, which describes itself as not only a destination but a ‘different frequency’.

I would take a massage in the hammam before enjoying sundowners on the terrace of our room with my partner Beau and Nova before we all loll in the family-size jacuzzi before bed.

Day three – A day at sea

The last morning of my bespoke luxury holiday experience in Ibiza would begin with a slow yoga practice followed by setting ourselves up for the day with the legendary Six Senses breakfast feast.

Together with my family, I would make my way to the hotel jetty where we would climb into kayaks to explore hard to reach, out of the way places on the north coast, fortified with a picnic prepared by Picadeli in Santa Gertrudis.

When we were ready, we would ‘park up’ at a natural jetty, rest and massage our feet on the natural stones while we savoured our delicious picnic, explored and perhaps took a siesta all alone in wild nature.

Next, we would take a boat to Benniras where I would climb ‘God’s Finger’, the rock that rises out of the sea about half a kilometer from the beach, and leap off. This is just the right height to be absolutely exhilarating.

Then, on the last night of my three-day dream adventure in Ibiza, my family and I would join our friends on the beach for a transcendent Ibiza sunset, listening to the drummers saluting the end of another day and harmonising with all that’s around them. Perhaps we would dance ourselves into another dimension, maybe we would be pleasantly worn out and just sit. Either way, we would feel our souls being nurtured by waves of gratitude for what we have just experienced.
