Introducing…

Author of this blog, Jill Gillessen, born a wonderer & became a wanderer at the age of 2 when her parents decided to move country. Probably a writer from the day she could write, her love for photography was born in the decisive moment she found an old Pentax camera - her mother said it to be older than Jill herself - in the cupboard.

Born in the Netherlands, raised in Belgium, she consecutively called Aix-en-Provence, Antwerp - where she studied photography - & Los Angeles home. Just over four years ago the globetrotter dropped anchor in the north of the intriguing island of Ibiza where she gracefully manages to combine most of her passions: poetry, photography, meditation, yoga, organic as well as vegan cooking & an intrinsic love of nature.

Her first book was published last spring & undoubtedly is nothing but the herald of many more to come. Jill´s never-ending curiosity combined with an unstoppable passion to create is going to guide us via backdoors & dirt roads to the hidden gemstones of this treasure island, the white isle, safe haven to black sheep & birds of paradise of every color & plumage.

Let us embark on a deep dive discovery throughout Ibicencan facts, figures & fables, no matter golden, olden or contemporary, to mindfully put the eye-opening, sometimes jaw-dropping dots on the i´s of Ibiza - both of them! North, South, East, West, be it elite, hippie, imported or local, from Balearic beats to eco-farming, as well as everything in between - nothing left unspoken, untouched or unseen.

Welcome to I-bizarre, a blog about Ibiza behind the seen.
